After having time to mull over my previous defeat, I made a triumphant return to this Insidious quest and secured myself a clear! Not having to wake up in the middle of the night probably helps…
Gimmicks
• Gravity Barriers (!)
• Magic Circles (!)
• Bounce Obstructors (!)
• Attack Up for each enemy touched (+9x per enemy)
• Weak Point Damage Up (9x)
• Super Elemental Effectiveness Up (2x out / 0.33x in)
• Element Check (don’t bring non-Water)
• Skull Marks (Enemy Attack Up / Down)
• Cross Skull Marks (Weak Point Reveal, Blackout)
• Revivals
• Mob Slayer Ability: Deity / 神 L (Mordred)
Team Composition (non-cheese)
• Water element, pierce sling units with Anti Gravity Barrier and Anti Magic Circle / Magic Circle Boost are needed; units with high Speed are especially valuable. Units with Speed Up bumps are also handy as supporters, event without full gimmick support.
• Watatsumi, Nanami, and Shin Date Masamune are the prime units for this quest, as they have one or more innate Speed Up sources from enhanced abilities.
– Nanami’s Super Speed bias gives her an extra Speed boost on top of Super Anti Gravity Barrier, though using her will limit your teambuilding options due to requiring her Connect Skill to be active. Unfortunately, her Strike Shot is not usable here…
– Watatsumi has not only Super Anti Gravity Barrier, but also Gravity Barrier Slayer and a usable Strike Shot for boss damage. Be careful around Mordred when using Watatsumi; if targeted by Mordred’s buffed laser attack, the resulting damage will likely wipe you immediately.
– Shin Date Masamune has Super Anti Gravity Barrier, and her Strike Shot temporarily boosts the Speed of allies she touches. She’s also obtainable from a (super hard) quest unlike Nanami and Watatsumi.
– Noah and Nostradamus don’t have both of the needed anti abilities, but their Speed Up bumps make them great supports. Noah is preferred due to having Anti Gravity Barrier.
Procedure / Tips
• Sometimes, it’s better to hit Shin Galahad’s weak point with a single, powered up strike than to try and hit it multiple times; take time to figure out which route is best for you each turn.
• You must hit different enemies to build up Attack buffs for large enemies, but be wary of which skull-marked mob you defeat LAST; other enemies may have their Attack either raised or lowered at the end of any turn. Bounce obstructors will raise enemy Attack, while Merlins will lower it.
– Keeping enemy Attack lowered every turn is not needed; don’t let it get in your way of looking for a good opportunity to attack the boss. Learn the boss’s moveset so you know which turns are “safe” for you to end on with enemies having boosted Attack.
– Bounce obstructors have a small, but powerful blast attack, dealing 25k damage if their Attack has been boosted; if ending a turn with raised Attack seems unavoidable, protect your team by defeating any nearby bounce obstructors. Merlin’s attack is not as damaging, as long as it does not hit more than one unit.
– Shin Galahad has a marked counter; it’s important that you lower her Attack when that counter is about to hit 0, as the resulting attack covers a wide area around her and deals a lot of damage. The attack also becomes more powerful each time it’s used, which makes lowering Shin Galahad’s Attack at the right moment all the more important.
